Pearl of Appreciation
Do you live each day with a sense of appreciation, that is an attitude of gratitude for everything that comes your way? Even irritating people, conditions or circumstances. Living better means much more than acquiring things, relationships, or money. Yes, these are all good things when used to help yourself and others. Appreciation is like glue that holds many of these things together when you face obstacles.
You can cultivate and grow your sense of appreciation very intentionally and progressively. Let me explain. A spirit of thanksgiving can start very small with words of gratitude for what seems to be an insignificant matter. Think of a pearl. A grain of sand invades an oyster and starts irritating its sensitive lining. The oyster doesn’t get out a vacuum cleaner or “spit” the grain of sand outside of its shell. No, it wraps the irritating grain of sand with layer upon layer of mother of pearl from its own inner self.
An amazing thing happens - the irritating piece of sand turns into a beautiful pearl over time. Appreciation can create a pearl out of the irritating things that happen in your life. Keep a gratitude journal and write down what you are thankful for every day. Your life will take on a whole new meaning and freshness.
