<p>This is where you start your performance.  It&#8217;s not only a question of getting into your speech as fast as possible, but mentally preparing both yourself, and the audience too, for what you are about to communicate.  </p>
<p>A sense of the dramatic is known as for.  </p>
<p>It is not just a collection of words that you are going to be using ; like any performance itwill involve the utilization of movement, passion, eye contact, dramatic pause, and lots of other methods utilised by actors each day of their working lives.  </p>
<p>And this is where the performer in you must rise to the front.  </p>
<p>For some folk, this is the toughest part. </p>
<p>They aren&#8217;t &#8216;born actors&#8217; and find that putting on a sense of the dramatic doesnot come naturally.  The danger, too, is that by &#8216;trying too hard&#8217; to be a performer they actually come across as ham actors lacking sincerity and thus losing credibility.  </p>
<p>In this regard, everyone has to discover their own comfort area and act in a style that&#8217;s both comfy and sounds natural.  Getting abest friend or companion to listen through and advise on how you are doing can be invaluable in this regard.  </p>
<p>When your name is known as, you want to look calm and collected, yet enthusiastic and excited that youhave been honoured simply by being asked to chat.  </p>
<p>When your name is published, you need to walk purposely onto the stage with your head held high, your shoulders back, asmile on your face.  </p>
<p>You look round the onlookers.  You must wait for silence ; comprehensive silence so we can hear that proverbial pin dropping.  Never be fearful of long silences.  </p>
<p>They add drama.  They heighten strain.  And at the very start they add to the expectancy of a star performance.  </p>

<p><strong>1. Adding some confidence.</strong>  If our audience doesn&#8217;t believe in us, then why will they bother giving us the time of day, not to mention sit thru our presentation?  </p>
<p><strong>2. Conviction in what we are saying is also key.</strong>  Putting across our keenness, despite the undeniable fact that we are truly convinced in our own debate, may cause our audience to doubt us and put question marks over what we have got to say.  </p>
<p><strong>3. Enthusiasm, too, is critical.</strong>  If we are confident and are convinced in our own debates, then highlylikely we may also come across as enthused.  Being enthusiastic is also infectious.  If we sound all fired up by what we are saying, the chances are we are going to have an easier &#8217;sell in&#8217; of our ideas than if we appear not so turned on by the topic matter in hand.  </p>
<p><strong>4. Our integrity is also something that must never be brought into question.</strong>  If we try and bluff our way thru a sticky patch, we are able to be certain the audience will almost certainly catch us out with the result that nearly the rest we are saying may also be challenged.  </p>
<p><strong>5. Of course, if we can show wehave a widespread grasp of the topic in hand by being able to show off our data, then that too is very important, though not always necessary.</strong>  Or is it?  Broadcasters most frequently talk about a subject with which they are not very familiar.  Of course , not every broadcaster can be well versed in each subject.  But the indisputable fact that they have done their research completely gives them the wherewithal to ask searching questions of their interviewees and, as such, shows them to be &#8216;instant gurus&#8217;!  </p>
<p>Ultimately, having a good voice is actually a valuable asset, but is not really necessary to a good display.  Few are graced with really beautiful voices, but there are thousands more who are good presenters.  </p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>HOPE can open your mind up to considering a wide range of possibilities. Consider how people feel when they have been given the diagnosis of something such as cancer. A friend of mine had this type of devastating news some years ago. She died a number of years later whilst in her early forties. For the purposes of this article, I will refer to her as Anne.</p>
<p>I remember how I felt when I first went to visit Anne at home after she had got the news. I felt sad, angry, disappointed, and anxious. I could not imagine how I would have managed to cope with what I saw as overwhelming and ultimately out of my CONTROL, had I been in her position.</p>
<p>I am aware that what I saw was only snapshots of how she was coping, and that family may have been presented at times with a very different picture .Anne put me at my ease. One of the first comments she made was that she saw this as an OPPORTUNITY for her to take a look at how she was living her life and make some CHANGES that will mean <a href="http://www.myselfimprovementblog.com/tag/improve-personal-life/" target='_blank' onclick="javascript:pageTracker._trackPageview ('/outbound/www.myselfimprovementblog.com');">life improvement</a> for her. </p>
<p>Anne took PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITY for finding out as much as she could about her cancer and treatment options and implications of particular choices. She knew at that stage what would be acceptable to her and knew at what time she would resist fighting things further - a very personal decision. She had thought about how her job fitted in with her PERSONAL VALUES and how it affected her stress levels and family life and had spoken with her husband about what changes could be made here and on what timescale. Methods of cooking, nutritional value of food, cooking styles and best types of pots to use. Anne said that she had been given a chance to do things differently and there was therefore a POSITIVE aspect to her diagnosis.</p>
<p>She continued to have a PURPOSE. That was to live as long as possible, with as much quality as she could and to OPTIMIZE the length of time she could be around for her children. She continued to have GOALS and therefore it was necessary to PLAN ahead to increase chances of ACHIEVEMENT.</p>
<p>HOPE motivated her to keep on living for as long as possible.Anne experienced an increased value from what she had in life and for what most of us take for granted on a daily basis. Small things became more significant to her. At the same time, she had down spells when small things caused distress which she would normally have been able to shrug off. She gained more from all of her close relationships and made the most of each day. Simple things gave her pleasure.</p>
<p>When she had &#8220;blown up&#8221; because of a course of steroids, it felt right for her not to see friends as she didn&#8217;t want to be seen like this. This was the correct decision at that time for her and she was strong enough to ASSERT herself and see it as her right to say &#8220;no, I don&#8217;t want to see anyone just now.&#8221; She was true to herself.</p>
<p>With HOPE comes a POSITIVE attitude.</p>
<p>OPTIMISM makes people more likely to SUCCEED.<br />OPTIMISM makes you feel that you are in CONTROL.<br />OPTIMISM boosts the IMMUNE system.<br />OPTIMISTS tend to be more structured.<br />OPTIMISTS stick to regimes, programes more frequently so therefore act upon advice of eg doctors.<br />When things go wrong, OPTIMISTS are less likely to give up.<br />OPTIMISTS look for the lessons to be learnt from situations.<br />OPTIMISTS are more RESILIENT and PERSISTENT.<br />OPTIMISTS see CHALLENGES as opposed to problems.<br />OPTIMISTS look for ways to <a href="http://www.myselfimprovementblog.com" target='_blank' onclick="javascript:pageTracker._trackPageview ('/outbound/www.myselfimprovementblog.com');">improve life</a><br />OPTIMISTS surround themselves with other people, reduce personal stress and boost their immune systems.<br />OPTIMISTS put themselves in a better position to get good social support, encouragement and feedback. They are also more likely to become aware at an earlier stage if things are going wrong.<br />OPTIMISTIC people settle for REALISTIC OPTIONS and strive for what they want to achieve.</p>
<p>REMEMBER, OPTIMISTS need to not just feel OPTIMISTIC, but also take RESPONSIBILITY for applying this to their lives, in terms of THOUGHTS, ATTITUDES, and ACTION!</p>
<p>HUMOUR can help to diffuse situations. Anne used this strategy a lot to cope with her hair loss when on chemotherapy and when a psychologist at the hospital had been foolish enough to ask her if she was concerned about her sexuality and her relationship with her husband following major surgery. Her recounting of this still makes me laugh now! (Unfortunately it is not something I could consider putting down on paper.)</p>
<p>HUMOUR makes you LAUGH and helps to get things into perspective.<br />HUMOUR can be HEALING.<br />HUMOUR is more likely to get you SUPPORT from others than moaning.<br />Try LAUGHING and being anxious at the same time, IT&rsquo;S IMPOSSIBLE!<br />HUMOUR encourages people to want to be around you.</p>

<p>If you think seriously, you would find that it is really no use worrying about anything. It is really foolish to worry about past or future. Nobody can change the past. Whatever has happened has happened. Why worry? How can something that has yet not come to pass affect us? How are we so certain that the future is so bleak? Things may turn out well. Why worry then? Worrying just tires us and diminishes our capacity of clear thinking and planning. It promotes negative thinking. Instead of worrying we should use positive affirmations and resolutions.</p>
<p>If worry could solve the problem, everybody would worry as much as possible. Problem solving requires clear thinking and planning. But worry makes us incapable of clear thinking and planning. Many things, if they are going to happen, will happen regardless of our worry. If it is going to rain, it will.</p>
<p>We worry for small things. The worst-case scenario may not even be bad enough to worry. You have made your boss angry. You worry that he may fire you. What of it? That is not the end of the world. You are still alive. Perhaps you would get a better job. You dread to go to the office next day. You think of sending in your resignation letter. Worrying you reach office. The boss calls you. He apologizes. It was his mistake!</p>
<p>Not only we should not worry about little things, but we should also not worry about seemingly big things. The things that seem today very big and important will seem trifle tomorrow. In your student life you must have worried for days about the wrong answer you gave, even though you knew the right answer, to an objective type of question carrying just half mark. How much you worried about a dress on a special occasion, meeting a boy or girl whom you fancied, or the change of residence of a friend&#8217;s family? Do these matter a bit today? Why worry about spilled milk, or a broken glass, or a missed bus?</p>
<p>Of course, no body worries for the sake of worrying. Worry just comes into mind and then never leaves. But many people never worry. It seems that worrying is a sort of bad habit. As all bad habits the habit of worrying is also difficult to get rid of. So, in the first instance, never make worrying a habit. Secondly, try to divert your mind. Think of positive things. Get busy with some physical activity. Keep yourself away from people who are habitually worrying type and who always see the negative side of a thing.</p>
<p>Instead of useless worrying, one should take positive action-</p>
